Bio

I have worked as a fundraiser and non-profit director for more than twenty years and my experience is extensive and varied: annual, major and planned giving; foundation support; sponsorships; special event planning and management; direct mail; capital campaigns; recognition and stewardship. I have raised money for the small shop and the large, multi-layered organization and have worked in a variety of sectors like health, post-secondary education, social services, heritage and the arts.

I am an effective team leader and director. In fact, my ability to lead and build a strong fundraising team along with my experience in budgeting, strategic planning, sponsorship and volunteer management give me a unique skill set among fundraisers.

I have written direct mail, stewardship and newsletter pieces, many grant and funding applications and have written presentations and speeches for others and myself. I have written press releases, prepared others for media contact, and have worked with media myself. As a director, I have created communication plans for development departments and have worked closely with Marketing and Communications teams to ensure marketing efforts have been targeted and well received.

What I am most proud of, is not just the amount of money I have raised, but the relationships I've made throughout my career. I have built strong, trusting relationships with volunteers, individual donors, corporate sponsors, colleagues and I feel a real sense of responsibility to properly steward and recognize each gift received by the organizations for which I have worked.
