Bio
Dave Tinker, CFRE, FAFP is Vice President of Advancement at ACHIEVA, where he oversees fundraising and communications efforts for the largest provider of lifetime supports for people with disabilities in southwestern Pennsylvania. He is also an adjunct professor of informatics at Muskingum University’s Master of Information Strategy, Systems and Technology program. Additionally, he is an associate of GoalBusters Consulting.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) International named him as one of six in the inaugural class of Distinguished Fellows in 2017. He is only one of twelve people in the world named a Distinguished Fellow of AFP. A certified AFP Master Trainer, he received the Outstanding Fund Raising Executive Award from the AFP Western PA chapter in 2013.
Dave has published numerous articles in professional journals and has written fundraising curriculum for The Fund Raising School® at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University and the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities. He has spoken about fundraising and technology across North America to groups as small as six teenage refugees to groups as big as 3,000+ international conference attendees.
Currently, he chairs the Marketing, Awards and Communications committee for AFP International. He also serves on the AFP PAC board of directors, and AFP International’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) committee. Dave is a past president of the AFP Western PA chapter and has served in many board volunteer roles for the AFP chapter, where he is currently the Vice President of Membership.
He serves on the ACCEL Advisory Board for the Forbes Funds, and is a member of the Grant Professionals Association’s Ethics Committee. Dave has been a volunteer coach for his daughters’ basketball and softball teams. He has served in leadership positions on numerous other nonprofit boards and committees.
Dave received a Master of Public Affairs with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and English and a Master of Information Strategy, Systems and Technology from Muskingum University. He is also a graduate of Leadership Works - Indianapolis, Class III and the National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities at the University of Delaware, Class 44.
