Bio

Patricia Morris serves the nonprofit community in Virginia with 30+ years of experience in board governance, fundraising, grant writing, and marketing. She has provided consulting services to numerous nonprofit organizations as an extension of her commitment to further the professional field of fundraising. Her service to seniors at LifeSpire (a Christian organization formerly known as Virginia Baptist Homes) has spanned seven years and is her way of living her faith during the workweek.

Ms. Morris has devoted her career to ensuring the sustainability of human services, early childhood education, and arts & culture organizations. Her past fundraising experience includes staff service to the Virginia Historical Society, the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, the Children’s Museum of Richmond, and Feed More, Inc. She has also served on boards of 16 nonprofit organizations, most of them in leadership roles.

She holds a Master of Public Administration degree with specialization in Nonprofit Studies from VCU and earned her first nationally certified designation as a CFRE in 1999. She was awarded the 2012 Nina Abady Award Winner, which is bestowed by VAFRE each year to a development professional who has exhibited excellence in ethical fundraising.

She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Leading Age Virginia Philanthropy Network and is a Past Chair of the AFP Virginia Caucus, representing the Central Virginia Chapter. She also served on the conference program committee of the Virginia Fund Raising Institute (VFRI) and was Co-Chair of VFRI in 2007 and 2015. She is a past President of AFP’s Central Virginia Chapter and Virginia Association of Fund Raising Executives. She has taught as an adjunct faculty member in the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University, at the University of Richmond’s Institute on Philanthropy, the Nonprofit Learning Point, and Southside Community Partners. Morris also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Costume Design from VCU and an Associate Degree in Horticulture from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College.
