Approved Providers

Approved Providers are organizations that have submitted their programs to CFRE International for review to verify that our continuing education standards are met. They will appear in My Education Finder and may promote CFRE point eligibility in their materials.

Application Process

Submit Approved Provider Application

To maintain Approved Provider status, organizations must submit a new application each year.

Programs must be submitted for approval in advance. CFRE International recommends submitting programs at least 30 days prior to the program date to allow sufficient time for the approval process. CFRE International does not award Continuing Education Points to post-dated programs.

Approval and Notification

Applicants will be notified of their Approved Provider status by email within 30 days.

If approved, applicants will also receive the CFRE continuing education logo and a template to create a continuing education point tracker.

Do NOT list your organization or your programs as approved before receiving an official approval letter from CFRE. Violation of this policy can result in rejection from the program without a refund.

  • Relationship Building

Non-Fundraising Content

CFRE International recognizes that certain continuing education opportunities, while not directly fundraising-related, will enhance performance as a fundraising professional. Examples include:

  • technology training

  • human resource principles
  • personal development (i.e., time management skills)

A wide variety of educational formats may count for credit, including (but not limited to):

  • conferences

  • seminars
  • conference recordings (audio and/or video)
  • online courses
  • hybrid courses

  • CFRE Continuing Education points are based on contact hours: 1 hour equals 1 point.
    • All courses that are 45 minutes to an hour count as one point.
    • Partial hours are counted in increments of .25 points per 15 minutes (1 hour and 45 minutes equals 1.75 points).
  • Programs less than 45 minutes (per topic) are generally not accepted.
  • For online courses, only instructional time (i.e., video/audio lecture, presentation) is eligible for points if the course does not include an assessment (i.e., quiz, exam).
